Vincent Hawkins
7 February – 29 March 2026
TKE Studios, Margate
Open Saturdays and Sundays, 12–5pm
TKE Studios is pleased to present an exhibition of new and recent works by Vincent Hawkins.
Hawkins’ paintings and prints are built through accumulation, abrasion, and revision. Surfaces are worked, scraped back, reworked again. Lines appear, disappear, and reassert themselves. What remains is a quiet tension between structure and instability, between something held together and something close to collapse.
The works resist easy resolution. Forms feel provisional, as though they have arrived at their current state by necessity rather than choice. There is a sense of containment throughout the work, a negotiation between control and release.
Hawkins has lived and worked in Margate for many years, and this exhibition marks an important presentation of his artwork within the town. The works on view span painting and printmaking, continuing his long-standing engagement with material, repetition, and the slow logic of making.
