Noah Berrie & Catherine Ward

Catherine Ward & Noah Berrie
14 December 2025 – 1 February 2026
Opening 13 December 5pm - 7pm

The Tracey Emin Foundation presents new work by artists Catherine Ward and Noah Berrie, developed during their Victoria House Residency in Margate.

Catherine Ward
Catherine Ward (b. 2000, Dublin) works across painting and moving image to explore landscapes shaped by extraction, labour, and decay. Drawing on disused industrial sites, her practice examines land as a politicised material—marked by absence and trace. During her residency, Ward has focused on Margate’s underground geographies, including the Margate Caves, investigating how subterranean spaces hold environmental and cultural memory.

Noah Berrie
Noah Berrie (b. 1998, New York) is an artist and musician whose work investigates sound as a sculptural and spatial material. Through feedback systems, custom electronics, and acoustic installations, Berrie composes real-time environments that explore resonance, perception, and the architecture of listening. At Victoria House, he has developed a new cycle of works exploring porous thresholds between object, body, and atmosphere.

In Conversation: Tracey Emin & Dr Peter Meades
Strangeland: 20 Years On
29 October 2025 | 7–9pm
TKE Studios, Margate

To mark the 20th anniversary of Strangeland, Tracey Emin’s uncompromising and deeply personal memoir, join us for an intimate conversation between the artist and Dr Peter Meades, London-based psychotherapist and author of the forthcoming I’m Fine (But Not Really).

First published in 2005, Strangeland traces Emin’s life through the Margate of her childhood, the Turkey of her forefathers, and the chaotic brilliance of her early career in London. Honest, shocking, and profoundly romantic, it remains one of the most searingly original memoirs of the past two decades.

The 20th anniversary edition, published by Hodder & Stoughton, features a new introduction from Emin, reflecting on the book’s enduring resonance, and the ways in which memory, trauma, and creativity shape a life.

Dr Meades brings to the conversation over 25 years’ experience as a psychotherapist and service leader in the NHS, now working in private practice. His insights into the intersections of psychotherapy, art, and culture will open up a dialogue with Tracey about the vulnerabilities, contradictions, and survival strategies that underpin both Strangeland and her approach to art.

This special event offers a rare opportunity to hear Tracey Emin discuss her life and work with candour and humour, in her hometown of Margate.

🎟️ Tickets:
£20 – Talk only
£40 – Talk + signed copy of Strangeland

Tracey Emin Foundation
Victoria House Residency

In this dual exhibition, Khoza and Avoseh explore themes of intimacy, identity, migration, and belonging—offering deeply personal reflections shaped by dislocation, desire, and the search for self.

Sejiro Avoseh

Sejiro Avoseh’s work is an evolving visual autobiography—an exploration of the psychological and emotional terrain shaped by migration and identity. Born in Lagos and now based in the UK, Avoseh creates charged compositions using painting and collage, weaving together fragmented figures, intuitive gestures, and layered surfaces.

His practice resists static identity, instead embracing the complexity of cultural dislocation and reinvention. Avoseh holds an MFA from the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury, and his work has been shown at Kravets Wehby Gallery (New York), Afikaris Gallery (Paris), Jupiter Contemporary (Miami), and FNB Art Joburg.

Banele Khoza

Banele Khoza (b. 1994, eSwatini) is known for his tender, diaristic approach to painting and drawing. His work investigates queer identity, love, and vulnerability, blending fluid figuration with handwritten text and raw emotion.

Based in Johannesburg, Khoza is the founder of BKhz Gallery and a key figure in Southern Africa’s contemporary art scene. His work has been widely exhibited, including solo shows at Zeitz MOCAA, Goodman Gallery, and kunsthaus göttingen, and he continues to advocate for greater visibility and access within the art world.

DEEPER CUT BY ZIAH ZIAH

DEEPER CUT BY ZIAH ZIAH

DEEPER CUT is a performance piece and exhibition by TKE Performance Artist Fellow and multi-disciplinary artist Keziah (Ziah Ziah). Developed during her residency at TKE Studios, this new work is an immersive exploration of hair, self-expression, healing, ritual, and relationships, drawing from her 15+ years as a hairdresser.

Through sound, music, film, and sculpture, Keziah transforms the salon into a portal of transformation—where hair becomes both canvas and ritual, and where the intimate exchange between hairdresser and client reveals layers of identity, trust, and change.

“I made this piece as a homage to the trade. The more I explored it, the more I uncovered the immense depth of what we do—how hairdressing holds space for healing, creation, and even magic in an everyday pursuit.”Ziah Ziah

The salon is more than a space for styling—it is a stage for reinvention, a mirror for self-perception, and a place where conversations unfold with raw honesty. Every cut carries meaning: the shedding of an old self, the marking of a new beginning, the weight of transformation.

Join us for this one-night performance and exhibition, where the ritual of the salon takes center stage in an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

Guy Oliver’s Sincerely Yours

TKE Studios artist Guy Oliver presents Sincerely Yours, a themed screening and talk exploring the interplay of irony and sincerity in contemporary culture. Through a curated selection of films and clips, Oliver will delve into the complex, often blurred lines between performance, authenticity, and artistic subversion.

At the heart of the discussion are two key figures:

Andy Kaufman – the avant-garde comedian and performance artist whose elaborate pranks and refusal to break character challenged the very nature of comedy and reality.

John Smith – the British filmmaker known for his playful yet profound manipulation of cinematic language, blending documentary with deception to question truth and perception.

Drawing connections between their work and those they’ve inspired, Oliver will navigate the ways in which irony and sincerity intersect in film, comedy, and performance art.
